NetApp AFF
NetApp AFF or All Flash FAS (Fabric-Attached Storage) is a series of enterprise storage systems developed by NetApp. AFF systems are all-flash based, providing high speed, efficiency, and scalability for applications that handle large amounts of data.
Why flash storage
Traditional hard disk drives (HDDs) have been the mainstay of storage systems for decades. However, as the number of data-intensive applications grew, there was a need for faster and more efficient solutions. This is how flash memory came into being.
In contrast to hard disk drives, which use rotating disks, flash memory uses semiconductor cells, which provides:
- high speed and almost instant access to data;
- reduced power consumption compared to hard disk drives;
- less wear and tear due to the lack of moving parts.
NetApp AFF versus traditional storage
. Performance. AFF systems provide consistent, low-latency performance.
Scalability. Thanks to their modular design, AFF systems can be easily scaled to meet growing needs. AFF systems can be easily scaled to meet growing needs.
