NetApp AFF
NetApp AFF or All Flash FAS (Fabric-Attached Storage) is a series of enterprise storage systems developed by NetApp. AFF systems are built entirely on the basis of flash memory, which provides high speed, efficiency and scalability for applications that work with large amounts of data.
Why flash drives?
Traditional hard drives (HDDs) have been the backbone of data storage systems for decades. However, with the growing number of data applications, there is a need for faster and more efficient solutions. This is how flash memory appeared.
Unlike hard drives, which use rotating disks, flash memory uses semiconductor cells, which provides:
- high speed and almost instant data access;
- lower power consumption compared to hard drives;
- less wear due to the lack of moving parts.
NetApp AFF compared to traditional storage systems
Efficiency. AFF systems provide stable performance with low latency.
Scalability. Thanks to the modular design, AFF systems can be easily scaled to meet growing needs.
Data protection. The built-in SnapMirror and SnapVault functions provide permanent protection and data recovery capability.
Key Features of NetApp AFF
- Data reduction technologies: deduplication, data compression and compaction.
- Integrated data protection: backup, disaster recovery, and data replication tools.
- Hybrid Cloud integration: Seamless data movement between on-premise and cloud environments.
- Storage Efficiency: Improve data storage efficiency through space-saving features.
