Cloud bursting

Cloud bursting is a cloud computing configuration that allows a private cloud to access additional compute resources of the public cloud without service interruption. The private cloud gains access by “bursting” into the public cloud at peak loads automatically or manually.

Cloud bursting is based on Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), which allows developers to dynamically configure cloud resources on demand.

This configuration is used for software development, analytics, marketing campaigns, big data and seasonal business.

The advantages of Cloud bursting include:

  • flexible scaling to quickly adapt and adjust to changing cloud resource needs;
  • ensure business continuity;
  • reducing costs to a minimum set of resources for mission-critical applications.
