Spearline Labs, the Irish phones numbers testing services, selected IT-GRAD for the placement in Russia
Kevin Buckley and Matthew Lawlor, the university friends, founded Spearline Labs in 2003. To facilitate sales on the software market, the company signed an agreement with Mandriva Linux – this helped to localize and distribute the software on both Irish and European markets. In 2006 Spearline Labs developed an Asterix-based PBX solution for small and medium businesses and introduced innovative speech recognition technologies that use geographically distributed solutions.
Today the company concentrates on testing of both toll and toll-free phone numbers for large and small businesses throughout the world. Spearline Labs provides its clients with a web platform that initiates test calls, performs checks and eliminates malfunctions, automates proactive test calls and provides detailed information on calls processing key functions – including connection statistics, sound quality, DTMF tones, CLI screenings and many others.
What (and why) is Colocation service?
Unlike the majority of IT-GRAD IaaS-oriented customers, Spearline Labs uses Colocation service. Eugene Hazel, Spearline Labs procurement and vendor selection manager, elaborates on the service features.
«Spearline Labs’ specific feature is that we perform tests inside our clients’ countries. We emulate the client’s situation with maximum precision: to be able to do that we place servers inside the country where incoming calls are originated. Apart from that, testing of many numbers is possible exclusively when dialing from the country they are tied to».
As local infrastructure is set in more than 50 countries throughout the world (the countries where Spearline Labs equipment is placed are marked blue on Fig. 1), and the service zone keeps expanding – one can call Spearline Labs presence global.
Reasons for IT-GRAD selection
Spearline Labs clients expect reliability and stable operations from the testing platform. To adhere to these standards in Russia, a partner able to maintain SLA requirements and to provide highly skilled technical support needed to be found.
«Spearline Labs requirements differ from the majority of other companies. Businesses look for hosting in Data Centers even more often; while we needed Colocation service: routing and switching the telephone lines to our own equipment. High skills of Data Center personnel and provision of a reliable telecom connection were our priorities, because the quality of our services directly depends on it. With full comprehension of the tasks’ set, IT-GRAD was ready to accomplish them in full. The service provider maintains the guaranteed SLA, while the support team is always ready to help in case of malfunctions», — commented Eugene Hazel.

Asked to elaborate on architecture specifics of the infrastructure, Spearline Labs folks joked it away:
«Probably, here we not gonna go into details. We’ll keep on playing, not disclosing our trump cards to the competitors. Although this information is not too confidential, we prefer not to allow its leakage to the Internet».
We thank Eugene Hazel for the provided information, wishing Spearline Labs further development and prosperity.
