Security testing

Information security testing is a process aimed at identifying vulnerabilities and risks associated with the use of information technology. It involves the examination and evaluation of systems and networks, software and data, as well as information management and protection processes. Testing can be performed both internally and externally with the help of information security professionals. Its purpose is to identify vulnerabilities that could be exploited to compromise the confidentiality, integrity or availability of information.

There are various testing methods:

  • human factors, which involves testing through simulation of attacks performed by humans;
  • technical testing, which involves the use of special tools and methods to identify vulnerabilities;
  • automated testing, which involves the use of software tools.

IT systems are often the target of illegal intrusion. Information security testing can help identify problems and improve the level of information protection. It is important to realize that this is not a one-time process, but a regularly repeated action.
