FAS2700

The NetApp FAS2700 is a series of hybrid storage solutions that maximize performance and efficiency in NAS/SAN environments.

The main difference between the FAS2700 series and the rest of the series is that it provides the user with more storage capacity (approximately 30% more) than other systems in its lineup (class) and the same price segment.

The FAS2700 solution is recommended for use in enterprises of any size, which have problems with financing in IT-infrastructure, associated with “explosive” growth of loads and increasing requirements for the amount of space for information storage.

Features and Benefits of the FAS2700

NetApp FAS2700 Series storage is scalable by easily adding nodes, and it can form large NAS installations because it supports up to 20 PB of data in a single volume and 400 billion files with no performance degradation.

The NetApp FAS2700 can be used as:

• local storage for virtualized server infrastructure;
• maximum performance storage for creating and storing D2D (disk-to-disk) backups;
• Storage for working with information of corporate application software (MS Exchange and SharePoint, MS SQL Server, etc.).

NetApp FAS2700 system is a universal solution of modular type. It belongs to the entry level in the FAS (Fabric Attached Storage) series from NetApp. The end user is provided in two modifications: FAS2750 and FAS2720, which differ in the form factors of pluggable drives that are installed on the chassis controller.

Regardless of the modification, the FAS2700 comes standard with a free Cluster Mode license, which allows you to scale the system not only by adding new disk shelves, but also by expanding the cluster with additional controllers.

Main Features

Structurally, the FAS2700 family of storage systems is housed in a 2U enclosure. On its rear part (depending on the specific modification) there are slots in which 1 or 2 controllers with data access interfaces are installed.

The dual-controller configuration of the storage system is a cluster HA-pair in one chassis of high fault tolerance. It ensures uninterrupted operation of the equipment even in emergency situations (for example, if one of the controllers fails and needs to be replaced).

Each controller has a built-in Flash Cache module, which operates on the basis of NVMe technology, providing additional cache memory, which allows faster processing and access to information.

The FAS2700 line of storage systems has unified UTA2 (Unified Target Adapter) ports, which have no analogues on the market today. They allow you to customize the interfaces to work with any of the technologies:

• 10GB FCoE;
• 8 or 16 FC;
• 10/1 GB Ethernet/iSCSI (optical);
• 1 GB Ethernet/iSCSI (copper).

All of the above is realized by connecting the appropriate SFP modules to the system. There is no need to replace the controllers.

In the devices of FAS2700 series provides the ability to quickly expand storage space without interrupting access to data by adding shelves for disks. This series can be expanded up to a maximum of 144 drives (HDD, SSD).
