Latency

Latency (latency) is a general term that broadly refers to any delay during the execution of any given operation. In computer networks, latency refers to downtime or delay that may occur during the transmission of data packets or during the processing of received data.

Latency can occur during the operation of software interacting with the Internet, webcasting an online video stream, while playing an online computer game, etc.

It is measured in milliseconds and depends on network bandwidth.
